| If it was easier for me to communicate through words, I wouldn´t probably be a photographer and my tool would be a pencil. I was aware of that and that´s why I studied illustration and photography in Palma de Mallorca (were I was born in 1972) continuing my studies in Barcelona. I focused in advertising photography but I quickly derived towards a mixture between documentary and fine arts photography, where I found my pace of work. Simplicity is my guide, the simpler the better, that´s why I don´t use to travel with big photo equipment and I try to accomplish my work as simpler as possible, trying to keep it that way throughout the whole process. I usually involve myself personally very much in all my projects. In fact, in each one, I dive into the feelings that each situation, each place, each person give me. I have always thought that the 99% of an image is based on feelings. I like to start from the premise of respect for what I will portray, I enjoy an interaction between the subject and myself and that´s why working with large format or pinhole photography requires me to have clear mind and not only get close to, but get totally envolved with what I photograph. Photography is a method of inquiry; it is a tool for understanding the world, which I use to describe the beauty and fragile nature of humanity. These are the things I attempt to describe in my photographs. |
